WQIS Appoints Ryan A. Puttick Senior Vice President, Chief Claims Officer
The Water Quality Insurance Syndicate, (“WQIS”), has announced today that Ryan A. Puttick has been appointed Senior Vice President, Chief Claims Officer effective from 1 October, 2019, replacing Harry Diamond who will transition to the full time position of Executive Consultant to WQIS.
Ryan joined WQIS’ claims department in 2013 and has worked alongside Harry handling hundreds of vessel discharges. Ryan has also taken a lead role in directing and managing relevant litigation involving the Syndicate, and its Assureds.
Harry Diamond joined WQIS in 1995 as a claims manager. He was promoted to Vice President of Claims in 1997. In his more than two decades at WQIS, Diamond managed all of WQIS’ own response experts and he has responded to over 2,500 spills. In addition to handling claims, Diamond also serves in a public relations capacity by lecturing at industry events, delivering educational speeches, and presenting to organizations such as the U.S. Coast Guard Crisis Center, which has a longstanding relationship with WQIS. In his new position, Diamond will continue to handle claims and to enhance WQIS with his wealth of experience. He will remain in his outward facing role interacting with industry and regulators.
Justin Mongello, President & CEO of the Water Quality Insurance Syndicate, commented: “An insurance team is only as good as their claims handling, and thanks to Harry Diamond and Ryan Puttick we are the best. Harry’s contribution to WQIS and the marine insurance industry is incomparable. We are excited about Harry’s transition to an Executive Consultant role where he will remain a key WQIS team-member and link to our customers, broker partners and the industry as a whole.”
Of Ryan Puttick’s promotion Mongello commented: “A well-deserved appointment. Ryan is very well positioned to run our response and claims handling function. He has a wealth of experience in marine claims having handled P&I and pollution claims worldwide for ocean going vessels as well as pollution claims for the U.S. tug and barge industry, yachts, fishing fleets and personal craft. Ryan will carry on our legacy of best in class claims service that all have come to expect from WQIS.”
